This awesome zombie shortfilm tells the tale of Lucio, a local hero who defends the inhabitants of a zombieinfested town against those trying to feast upon their flesh with his shotgun. During it’s 20 minutes length we see that the survivor’s stronghold is placed in a bar and after every evening, Lucio returns home to tell his wife Ana he misses her. He keeps his wife locked behind bars as she joined the ranks of the undead.

On a particular evening he saves Nancy, a girl at the bar, from a customer who doesn’t take no for an answer and takes her home afterwards to make love. Well, as far as love is interfered. While we see their rough deeds, we also see the rage of his deceased wife growing within every sound they make until she breaks free. When Ana destroys Lucio’s gun in a fight, he and Nancy manage to escape to a shed with enough primitive weapons to use against the attacking zombies. The final battle has begun and mayhem is about to take place with gallons of blood to be spilled!

I’ll See You In My Dreams, is produced by a small Portuguese production company called O Pato Profissional Produções and directed with much care by Miguel Angel Vivas. Despite it’s short running time, it proves to be a worthwhile addition to the ever growing zombie-genre.

When you put the lighting, overall atmosphere, strong acting, outstanding fx and the great choice of music in a blender, the result would be this timeless story! High praises goes out for the fx which reminded me strong to those used in Raimi’s cult classic Evil dead. Another strong point is our “hero” Lucio of which we learn through a flashback scene that he’s not as innocent as you might think. Add the final minutes, and once again he proves to be a different kind of hero as we are used to.

Portugal’s first entry in the zombie subgenre is destined to leave its marks in our beloved scene! This one comes highly recommended!
